Favorite Outdoor Locations in Kansas City

If you're searching for beautiful spots in Kansas City to capture some amazing pictures, then you have come to the right place! I have compiled a list of my favorite locations in Kansas City that are perfect for any kind of photo session, be it a couple, senior, family or maternity session. So, rest assured, you will find the perfect spot for your photography needs here!

Location #1: Shawnee Mission Park in Kansas

This first spot is over on the Kansas side and sits 25 minutes outside of Downtown KC. At first glance, it might seem kinda far out there, but let me tell you it is completely worth the drive.

Why it's my favorite: This park is HUGE and has so much to offer in terms of scenery, that's why it's one of my favorites! Whether you want to embrace the lake views or have a picnic in an open field during sunset - it’s got it all! Plus it looks gorgeous in the Fall making it my top place to take Fall engagement photos. You just can’t go wrong here, every spot is beautiful.

Location #2: Webster House

This former schoolhouse sits right next to the Kauffman Performing Arts Center and is perfect for those who want photos downtown but without all the chaos.

Why it's my favorite: You get the downtown vibes but with fewer crowds. Plus you can get different views of the city by going across the street to the top of the parking garage. You'll see Bartel Hall and the Kauffman Center straight ahead, KC Wheel and the Westside to the west, and to the east the Crossroads district.

Location #3: Nelson Atkins Museum

Who doesn’t want pictures here!?! This is by far one of the most popular locations in Kansas City and for good reason too! From the landscaping to the architecture of the building, it is just stunning.

Why it's my favorite: The landscaping to the architecture of the building are by far some of my favorites in Kansas City.
